Job Description: Lead Financial Accountant
1. About the Company/Team
Oracle's Global Accounting Controllers (GAC) team is a key part of the Global Controllers Organization, responsible for driving accurate, timely, and compliant US GAAP accounting and reporting across global entities.
The team comprises finance professionals who support periodic book close, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, audit requirements, process improvements, and global accounting initiatives. GAC plays a critical role in ensuring financial data accuracy, strong controls, and a unified global approach to close management, reporting, and accounting operations.
2. Job Summary
The Lead Accountant will be responsible for supporting accurate and timely month-end and quarter-end close activities for assigned countries or regions. The role involves reconciling balance sheet accounts, resolving open items, supporting financial statement accuracy, and contributing to reporting and audit requirements.
This role requires strong accounting knowledge, a fiduciary mindset, and the ability to collaborate with global stakeholders. The candidate will also support global projects, process improvements, automation initiatives, and act as a point of contact for regional or country-specific accounting matters.
3. Key Responsibilities
- Perform month-end and quarter-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate book closure for assigned countries or regions.
- Prepare, review, and reconcile balance sheet accounts, ensuring open items are identified, tracked, and resolved appropriately.
- Support Data Center Accounting activities, including accounting analysis, reporting, and issue resolution.
- Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and control requirements.
- Lead or participate in global accounting projects, including process changes, system upgrades, and transformation initiatives.
- Test and validate process changes resulting from system upgrades, automation, or cloud technology enhancements.
- Contribute to process and reconciliation improvements by identifying more effective and efficient mechanisms of delivery.
- Partner with global teams to support a unified approach to Close Management, Global Reporting, and Financial Data Management.
- Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for regional or country-specific accounting projects, queries, and troubleshooting.
- Support onboarding and knowledge transfer by training new joiners and sharing best practices with the team.
4. Qualifications & Skills
Mandatory
- CA/CMA qualification with 3-6 years of experience in Accounting and Finance
or - B.Com/M.Com/MBA with 8+ years of experience in Accounting and Finance.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, US GAAP accounting, financial reporting, and book close processes.
- Hands-on experience in month-end/quarter-end close activities and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ability to analyze and resolve accounting open items and support financial statement accuracy.
- Experience supporting audit requirements, documentation, and compliance-related activities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across regions and functions.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver accurate results within timelines.
Good-to-Have
- Experience working in a global controllership, shared services, or multinational accounting environment.
- Exposure to Data Center Accounting or technology-sector accounting processes.
- Experience participating in global projects, system upgrades, automation, or cloud-based finance transformation initiatives.

As a member of the finance division, you will assist in accounting functions which may include general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and inter-company transactions. Maintain the general ledger to include the preparation of journal entries, analysis, reconciliation and reporting. Maintain and implement general accounting systems. Conduct account reconciliation periodically, ledger close activities, and provide accurate financial data to support management in decision making. Develop and prepare financial reports including profit and loss, income and balance sheet statements. Review and analyze inter-company transactions. Ensure all journal entries comply with internal and external audit specifications. Participate in the ongoing development and maintenance of internal procedures and processes. May participate in special projects.
