Lead - Estimation

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities1. Estimation & Cost Planning

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for Data Centre construction projects with focus on MEP packages.
• Review drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, tender documents, and design inputs for estimation.
• Develop item-wise and package-wise estimates for Electrical / Mechanical / HVAC / Fire Fighting / Plumbing / ELV / BMS systems.
• Conduct quantity take-offs from drawings and validate quantities for tendering and budgeting.
• Prepare concept estimates, detailed estimates, and pre-bid cost plans based on project stage.
• Analyze scope gaps, exclusions, assumptions, and risks in the tender/estimation phase.
  
  

2. Tendering & Bid Support

• Support preparation of techno-commercial proposals for new projects.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders for RFQ floating, vendor queries, cost inputs, and bid clarifications.
• Compare vendor/subcontractor quotations and prepare comparative statements.
• Assist in finalization of cost benchmarks, pricing strategy, and bid submissions.
• Identify commercial risks and provide inputs during tender review meetings.
  
  

3. Technical Review

• Review design inputs related to Electrical systems (HT/LT, DG, UPS, transformers, bus ducts, cable trays, lighting, earthing) and Mechanical systems (HVAC, chillers, CRAH/CRAC, piping, ventilation, firefighting, plumbing).
• Assess project requirements in line with Data Centre standards, redundancy philosophy, uptime expectations, and constructability.
• Work closely with design/engineering teams to ensure estimation aligns with project specifications and execution realities.
  
  

4. Vendor & Market Coordination

• Liaise with OEMs, vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers for budgetary quotes and technical-commercial inputs.
• Maintain updated database of rates, cost benchmarks, approved vendors, and historical project costs.
• Track market trends in key materials/equipment such as UPS, DG, transformers, switchgear, chillers, pipes, ducts, fire systems, ELV and BMS components.
  
  

5. Value Engineering & Cost Optimization

• Identify opportunities for cost optimization and value engineering without compromising project quality, reliability, or compliance.
• Suggest alternate materials, systems, and execution methodologies where feasible.
• Support leadership in preparation of budget vs estimate analysis and savings opportunities.
  
  

6. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Coordinate with Projects, Design, Procurement, Contracts, Finance, and Commercial teams during estimation and bid stages.
• Provide estimation support for change orders, variation claims, and budget revisions.
• Participate in internal reviews for project feasibility and capex planning.

Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of MEP systems estimation and construction methodologies.
• Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, MEP drawings, layouts, BOQs, and specifications.
• Good understanding of Data Centre infrastructure such as:
• HT/LT power distribution
• DG / UPS / PDUs
• Chiller / cooling systems / precision air conditioning
• Fire detection & suppression
• ELV / BMS / monitoring systems
• Proficiency in:
• MS Excel (advanced)
• AutoCAD
• Revit / Navisworks (preferred)
• Primavera / MS Project (preferred)
• Good commercial acumen and cost analysis capability.

Qualifications

Educational Qualification

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
• Additional qualifications/certifications in Estimation, MEP, Cost Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Primavera/MS Project, AutoCAD/Revit will be preferred.
  
  

Experience

• 10–15+ years of relevant experience in Estimation / Tendering / Cost Planning for MEP works.
• Must have strong exposure to Data Centre / Mission Critical / Industrial / Large Commercial / Infrastructure projects.
• Hands-on experience in estimation of major MEP packages such as:
• Electrical systems
• HVAC systems
• Fire Protection & Fire Alarm
• Plumbing & Drainage
• ELV / BMS / IBMS systems
• Experience in Data Centre projects will be highly preferred.
• Exposure to EPC / Design & Build / General Contracting environments preferred.
