The Lead Engineer Operability -Instrumentation will be part of the Operability/Systems Engineering team and will be responsible for delivering high quality instrumentation engineering for power plant systems, rotating equipment, and associated auxiliary systems.

The selected candidate will execute instrumentation design activities across the full project lifecyclefrom inquiry and tendering to detailed engineering, procurement, commissioning, and commercial operation.

As part of the Instrumentation discipline, the individual will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, global engineering teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure robust, compliant, and reliable instrumentation solutions.

Essential Responsibilities

The Lead Instrumentation Engineer is expected to uphold and foster these values while performing the following responsibilities:

  • Support tender engineering teams with technical inputs during proposal and customer clarification meetings.
  • Conduct contract/RMS analysis and prepare clarification notes and deviation requests.
  • Execute instrumentation engineering studies for power plant systems, rotating equipment, and auxiliary systems while ensuring compliance with standards and customer specifications.
  • Prepare instrumentation design documents including:
  • Instrument index / I/O lists
  • Instrument data sheets
  • Measurement philosophy and instrumentation specification
  • Control and shutdown system interface requirements
  • Hookup drawings and installation details
  • Cable block diagrams, loop drawings, and wiring lists
  • Understand the hazardous area classification and do necessary equipment selection
  • Define instrumentation requirements for control and protection systems (DCS/PLC/ESD).
  • Coordinate with control system engineers for signal mapping, alarm limits, setpoints, and logic dependencies.
  • Support development of P&IDs, cause-and-effect diagrams, and control narratives from an instrumentation perspective.
  • Prepare technical requisitions, datasheets, and purchase specifications for field instrumentation (pressure, flow, level, temperature, vibration, position sensors, transmitters, analyzers, valves, etc.).
  • Perform technical bid evaluations (TBE) and ensure supplier compliance with project requirements.
  • Manage technical clarifications, deviations, and approvals with selected vendors.
  • Conduct design reviews, inspections, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT/SWAT) for instrumentation packages.
  • Provide technical support during installation, precommissioning, and commissioning activities.
  • Assist Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and verify functionality of all instrumented systems.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation issues during start-up and initial operation.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in process control engineering in Power domain or in a similar industrial sector
  • Strong knowledge of field instrumentation, control systems, and I&C standards (IEC, ISA, ATEX, SIL, etc.).
  • Experience working with DCS/PLC systems and instrument integration.
  • Fluent in English with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Autonomous and Ability to work in a matrix environment while coordinating with global teams across multiple sites and time zones
  • Prepared to travel occasionally

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in power plant operations, rotating equipment, or turbine/generator auxiliary systems.
  • Knowledge of nuclear or conventional power plant instrumentation requirements (a plus).
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic technical environments and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills, proactive mindset, and a cando attitude.
  • Team player with the ability to drive transparency, collaboration, and accountability.
