Lead Engineer - Mechanical

Job Title : Lead Engineer- Mechanical

Department : Global MCAD

Reports to : Sr. Manager - Engineering

Description of Essential Duties:

  • Execute design engineering tasks in support of New Product Development (NPD), Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE), and product improvement projects, ensuring compliance with global engineering standards and practices.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality project outputs for customized orders including CAD models, detailed drawings, assemblies, Bills of Materials (BOM), and Change Orders.
  • Independently handle complex design projects from concept to production, ensuring accuracy, manufacturability, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise in CAD (Creo ), PLM tools, and sheet metal domain & Molded parts., ensuring robust and optimized designs.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration across global teams, ensuring clear communication of technical requirements, risks, and progress.
  • Participate in project reviews with internal teams and stakeholders, providing insights, addressing technical challenges, and contributing to design optimization.
  • Estimate and plan personal project deliverables, ensuring timely execution while adhering to organizational quality and documentation standards.
  • Continuously improve design methodologies, tools, and processes, contributing to efficiency and effectiveness in project execution.
  • Share knowledge with junior engineers and peers, providing technical guidance and helping to build team competency in CAD modeling and engineering best practices.
  • Take ownership of assigned deliverables, ensuring that designs meet cost, quality, and schedule commitments.

Required Competency for Team Lead:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a strong background in product design and development.
  • 7-10 years of hands-on experience with CAD tools, particularly Creo, with proven expertise in sheet metal design & Moulded parts.
  • Proficient in creating and managing large assemblies, complex 3D models, and detailed drawings.
  • Strong experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools Agile or PD Cloud experience will be an advantage.
  • Solid understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and design-for-manufacturability principles.
  • Prior exposure to telecom, electrical enclosures, or related fabrication-based product design is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse and resolve technical challenges independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, global environment.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and disciplined, with a strong drive for continuous learning and improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example, with self-motivation, discipline, and a passion for continuous learning. The Team Lead should be capable of inspiring and organizing the team to achieve project milestones and quality standards.
