Product Line ONS Regional Technology APAC Lifecycle Engineering APAC

Mechanical Engineering APAC is part of Lifecycle Engineering within Regional Technology, Product Line Onshore, Vestas Technology & Operations (VTO). As the regional technology enabler for mechanical systems, the team supports reliability improvement, asset optimization, and technical excellence across the APAC wind turbine fleet. Through close collaboration with Service, Construction, and global engineering functions, the team converts operational challenges into engineering solutions that deliver measurable value to customers and the business.

Our team plays a critical role in transforming field experience into engineering solutions, improving turbine performance and reliability, and delivering value to customers throughout the lifecycle of Vestas wind turbines.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the regional mechanical engineering authority for APAC, supporting turbine reliability, performance, and lifecycle optimization
• Lead technical investigations, root cause analyses, and resolution of complex mechanical issues across the fleet
• Provide proficiency in drivetrain systems, hydraulics, bearings, bolted connections, lubrication systems, and rotating equipment
• Analyze operational, condition monitoring, and inspection data to identify reliability risks and improvement opportunities
• Support continuous improvement, cost-out, and availability enhancement initiatives through data-driven engineering solutions
• Partner with Service, Construction, R&D, and global engineering teams to develop and implement sustainable technical solutions
• Act as the key regional interface for technical escalations, customer discussions, and cross-functional collaboration
• Prepare and review engineering assessments, inspection reports, root cause analyses, technical memos, and serious incident investigations
• Translate technical challenges into business cases that support strategic decision-making and asset optimization
• Oversee technical projects and engineering change initiatives that improve fleet reliability, safety, and customer value
• Contribute to risk mitigation strategies and ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, quality requirements, and safety expectations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's / master's degree in mechanical / Similar engineering discipline
• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience within the wind energy industry
• Solid knowledge of mechanical and drivetrain systems, reliability engineering, and condition monitoring systems
• Experience in technical investigations, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Project management experience
• Six Sigma or equivalent continuous improvement certification

Competencies

• Demonstrated experience in wind turbine operations, maintenance, reliability engineering, or lifecycle management
• Solid technical knowledge of mechanical systems, including drivetrains, bearings, hydraulic systems, lubrication systems, and rotating equipment
• Experience in diagnosing problems, root cause analysis (RCA), condition monitoring, and data-driven problem-solving
• Ability to interpret operational, inspection, and condition monitoring data to identify risks and improvement opportunities
• Solid stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across regional and global teams
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear reports, recommendations, and business cases
• Solid, structured approach with a continuous improvement and customer-focused approach
• Knowledge of safety standards, risk management, and engineering governance within industrial or renewable energy environments
