Job Description

Job Title: Lead Engineer - Mechanical Engineering.

Job overview/Purpose of the Position:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and validation of mechanical systems and enclosures for electronic monitoring solutions across our product portfolio.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical design, thermal management, structural integrity, environmental protection, and manufacturability for harsh operating conditions such as wind turbines and industrial environments.

This role demands engineering rigour, problem-solving capability, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, reliable, and scalable products.

Area of responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical enclosures, housings, and mounting systems for electronic monitoring and control hardware (PCBAs, Connectors, Cable Harness, etc.).
  • Ensure designs meet environmental requirements such as IP protection (dust, moisture), temperature range, UV exposure, corrosion, and vibration.
  • Perform thermal analysis and heat dissipation design for electronics (passive cooling, heat sinks, airflow, material selection).
  • Conduct structural and vibration analysis to ensure reliability in wind turbine nacelles and industrial installations.
  • Develop 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and BOMs for production release.
  • Select appropriate materials, coatings, and finishes suitable for outdoor and harsh industrial environments.
  • Collaborate with electronics and manufacturing teams for design integration and assembly optimization.
  • Support DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly) and cost optimization activities.
  • Define and execute mechanical validation tests such as vibration, shock, drop, ingress protection (IP), and environmental testing.
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners for tooling, prototyping, and production ramp-up.
  • Support compliance and certification activities (IEC, UL, CE or relevant industrial/wind standards).
  • Manage design changes, engineering documentation, and release processes in PLM/PDM systems.
  • Participate in NPI builds, pilot production, and field validation.

Competencies (e.g. technical skills):

Must Have Skills & Experience:

  • Around 7-10 years of hands-on experience in electronics design and development.
  • Ability to create detailed engineering drawings, apply GD&T, and manage tolerance stack-ups.
  • Strong expertise in 3D CAD modelling and detailing using tools such as Solid Edge and Solidworks.
  • Experience supporting prototype builds, validation testing, and production release.
  • Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams with electronics, firmware, quality, and manufacturing.
  • Experience in PLM/PDM systems and engineering change management (ECN/ECR) processes.
  • Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and documentation skills.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Proactive attitude and ability to work independently or in a team.
