We are seeking a Lead Engineer - Automation with hands-on experience in PLC programming and HMI/SCADA development, particularly within the printing, packaging, and paper converting industries. You will be responsible for leading automation projects from software development through field commissioning, utilizing your expertise in B&R or Beckhoff systems, as well as scripting and web technologies to create robust and reliable control solutions.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of automation systems, from concept to field commissioning.
- Program PLCs using B&R Automation Studio (Structured Text, Ladder, AS4.x) or Beckhoff TwinCAT.
- Develop and customize HMI programs using mapp View (HTML5-based UI) or IGNITION SCADA Platforms.
- Conduct machine assembly checkout, I/O verification, and field commissioning.
- Integrate HMI/SCADA systems with IoT systems using protocols like OPC UA and MQTT.
- Use GitHub for version control, issue tracking, and collaborative development.
- Implement database integration using MS SQL Server for data logging, trends, alarms, and reporting.
- Design PLC-HMI interfaces for control and visualization layers.
- Configure alarms, historical logging, recipe systems, and report generation.
- Perform code maintenance and version control for automation projects.
Skills Required:
- Proficiency in PLC programming with either B&R or Beckhoff.
- Mandatory experience in HMI development using B&R mapp View or IGNITION platform.
- Strong hands-on experience in machine assembly checkout and field commissioning.
- Mandatory experience with GitHub for version control, branching, and collaboration.
- Familiarity with the Ignition SCADA platform and Python scripting for industrial applications is an added advantage.
- Working knowledge of HTML/JavaScript for customizing HMI web interfaces is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of MS SQL Server for database integration (queries, stored procedures) is an added advantage.
- Experience with OPC servers, tag management, and data structure design.
- Background in printing, packaging, and paper converting industries is a plus.
QUALIFICATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Automation, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
