Lead Engineer – AI

We are looking for a highly execution-focused Lead Engineer to drive the rebuild and evolution of a suite of AI-powered internal investor tools. This is a technical leadership role for someone who can bridge product thinking, architecture, and rapid execution in a lean, fast-moving environment.

You will work directly with leadership to turn product specifications into scalable internal tools across CRM, analytics, AI workflows, and automation systems. The role requires strong ownership, proactive thinking, and comfort operating in ambiguity.

This is not a pure coding role — we are looking for someone who can lead technical direction, coordinate developers, make architectural decisions, and leverage AI coding tools to accelerate delivery.

What You'll Be Working On

• AI-powered investor productivity tools
• Automated pre-meeting and research briefs
• Intelligent newsletter and startup intelligence summarization
• CRM and workflow integrations
• Internal AI assistants and operational automation tools
• Knowledge management and search systems
• Data pipelines and analytics workflows

Key Responsibilities

• Translate product specifications into actionable technical plans and development tickets
• Lead architecture and technical decision-making across the platform
• Coordinate and mentor a small engineering team
• Review code quality and ensure delivery standards
• Drive rapid rebuild and modernization of existing systems
• Audit current applications and recommend what to retain, rebuild, or decommission
• Identify gaps in requirements proactively and propose scalable solutions
• Build and integrate AI-powered workflows using LLM APIs and agentic coding tools
• Maintain clear async communication through Slack, Linear, and documentation
• Deliver weekly progress updates, including shipped features, blockers, and roadmap items

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience building full-stack applications end-to-end
• Expertise in backend development using Python and FastAPI
• Frontend experience with React and/or Next.js
• Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, and system design
• Experience working with:
• Snowflake
• Slack integrations
• Google Workspace APIs
• CRM systems (Attio or similar)
• Notion/productivity tooling
• Hands-on experience with LLMs and AI APIs such as:
• Claude
• OpenAI
• Agentic AI frameworks
• Comfortable using AI coding assistants and automation workflows
• Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar codebases and make architectural recommendations
• Experience managing or coordinating engineers in agile environments
• Strong written communication and async collaboration skills
• Bias toward simplicity, speed, and pragmatic execution

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building internal productivity or workflow automation tools
• Exposure to investor tools, fintech, SaaS, or analytics platforms
• Familiarity with modern data stacks and event-driven systems
• Experience with cloud-native architecture and scalable integrations
• Strong product mindset with the ability to challenge unclear requirements constructively
