Job Description

Job Purpose:

Electro-Mechanical Lead Engineer will lead the architecture and execution of precision linear and rotary actuator & will guide a multidisciplinary team to optimize motor control, gear-trains, feedback mechanisms, and packaging, ensuring all hardware satisfies rigorous performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements & must be a proactive problem-solver eager to implement new technologies and maintain rigorous attention to detail in a knowledge-sharing environment.

Principal Accountabilities:

Actuator design:

• Lead the conceptualization and detailed design of electromechanical actuators, integrating motors, gearboxes, ball/roller screws, encoders, and control electronics.

Structural Designing and analysis:

• Review 3D models and detailed 2D production drawings in SolidWorks.

• Ensure GD&T (ASME Y14.5) implemented in drawings to establish precise tolerances.

• Ensure design for Environmental Ruggedization (MIL-STD compliance), including thermal management and vibration isolation.

• Perform kinematic, dynamic, and thermal hand calculations, tolerance stack-ups, and finite element analysis (FEA) to validate structural and electromagnetic integrity.

Integration & Testing of Subsystems:

• Oversee the physical integration of subsystems according to assembly drawings and clearance documents.

• Perform Mass Balancing (static and dynamic) to optimize motor efficiency and stabilization.

• Execute rigorous testing protocols for missile/UAV/robotic subsystems to validate performance against mission requirements.

Designing Tools, Jigs & Fixture:

• Design custom Jigs, Fixtures, and specialized tools to streamline assembly and environmental testing processes.

Documentation:

• Prepare comprehensive Integration Documents, Assembly Checklists, and System-Level Work Logs.

Other Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate clearance records and design history files for cross-functional stakeholders. • Follow ups & take clearance from various stakeholders. • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Educational Qualifications & Work Experience:

• Candidate should have B. Tech or M. Tech in Mechanical/Robotics/Mechatronics engineering or a related field.

• Minimum 9 years of work experience.

• Experience in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or Creo) and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS).

• Experience in system level integration of actuator (motor, gearbox, encoders, brakes, and sensors. • Experience in design calculations, prototyping and testing of actuators.

• Proven track record in developing Defense or Aerospace products from scratch (NPD) through to delivery.

• knowledge of material selection (Aerospace alloys, composites) and component selection (motors, bearings, sliprings, encoders).

• Strong understanding of Limits, Fits, and ISO/ASME Y14.5 standards.

• Previous experience in Defense, UAVs, Robotics, Drones, or Gimbal Systems.

• Experience in DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing/Assembly) for CNC and 3D printing.

• Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to coordinate across electronics and software teams.
