Lead Electrical Engineer - Solar
Experience description
7+ years in electrical design engineering, with strong experience in low-voltage power
systems for renewable or building-related energy installations.
At least 2–4 years of hands-on experience in battery energy storage systems (BESS),
electrical distribution systems, cable engineering, and energy management integration.
Experience in solar PV is important, but the role primarily focuses on complete electrical
system integration for Dutch renewable installation projects.
Strong knowledge of the IEC 60364 series and low-voltage electrical design principles.
Familiarity with Dutch standards such as NEN1010, NEN3140, NEN-EN 50110-1 and
SCIOS Scope 8/10/12 is an advantage and can be learned on the job
Able to switch quickly between tasks while maintaining high quality standards
Preferred: experience in ground-mounted solar park projects and electrical design work in
AutoCAD or BricsCAD. Experience with VirtoSolar is a plus
Proficient in Excel and AutoCAD (2D/3D)
Education: Bachelor/Master Electrical Engineering
Skills:
Single Line Diagrams, Cable sizing and voltage drop calculations, Earthing and grounding design
IEC 60364 (Able to learn NEN1010/NEN3140/SCIOS Scope)
Protection device selection/coordination
AC/DC distribution design
BESS integration with inverters, meters and EMS

Responsibilities:
Design and develop complete electrical systems for Dutch renewable energy projects, with a focus on solar PV, battery
energy storage systems (BESS), and related low-voltage infrastructure
Prepare electrical designs, calculations and technical documentation, including single line diagrams, cable sizing, voltage
drop calculations, earthing concepts and AC/DC distribution layouts
Define technical specifications and support the selection of key components such as inverters, batteries, meters,
protection devices, cables and distribution panels
Contribute to the integration of BESS, inverters, metering and energy management systems (EMS) within complete project
designs
Prepare and review layout drawings and installation-related design documentation in AutoCAD or BricsCAD, including
routing and placement plans where required
Perform engineering checks to ensure compliance with applicable standards, safety requirements and internal quality
expectations
Support technical problem-solving for complex electrical design issues and provide technical clarification to colleagues,
suppliers and project stakeholders
Coordinate with internal project teams, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure technically correct and timely project
execution
Support project estimation, technical proposals and design reviews during the preparation and execution phases
Take ownership of the assigned engineering scope and ensure that deliverables are completed accurately, on time and to
the required quality level
Act as a technical reference point for electrical engineering topics within the project team
Work according to international electrical standards, with Dutch project-specific standards and practices to be learned on
the job
