About the Role:
We are looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to own and drive our DevOps charter across the organization. This role involves leading the DevOps team while building and operating scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure.
You will partner closely with engineering teams to enable fast, automated deployments, ensure production reliability, and set best practices for security, observability, and cost efficiency as the platform scales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and lead the overall DevOps charter for the organization, including cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, reliability, security, and cost optimization.
- Define and drive the DevOps vision, roadmap, and best practices aligned with engineering & business goals.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing DevOps team; set technical standards, conduct reviews, and enable career development.
- Architect, build, and scale highly available, secure, and resilient AWS infrastructure.
- Design, operate, and scale Kubernetes clusters, including node auto-scaling and capacity optimization using tools such as Karpenter
- Design, implement, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable, and automated deployments at scale.
- Establish and enforce Infrastructure as Code standards using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Own production reliability and uptime, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, post-mortems, and continuous improvement.
- Drive observability strategy across logging, monitoring, and tracing using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, etc.
- Partner closely with Engineering and Product teams to enable secure-by-design, scalable architecture.
- Lead cloud security, compliance, and access governance, implementing best practices for container, network, and data security.
- Own and optimize cloud cost management, capacity planning, and resource utilization.
- Act as the final escalation point for critical infrastructure issues and production incidents.
- Document architecture, processes, and runbooks to ensure operational excellence and knowledge sharing.
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering, with at least 12 years in a technical leadership role.
- Strong hands-on expertise with cloud platformslikeAWS (preferable)/ GCP / Azure, including designing systems for scale and reliability.
- Deep experience with CI/CD systems (Jenkins, Devtron etc) and release automation.
- Proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible at production scale.
- Strong experience with containerization and orchestration, especially Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL), including deployment, backup, replication, and performance considerations in cloud environments.
- Solid understanding of monitoring, logging, and alerting systems (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, etc.).
- Strong scripting and automation skills in Bash, Python, or Go.
- Excellent understanding of networking fundamentals, cloud security, and DevOps security best practices.
- Experience handling production incidents, on-call rotations, and driving post-incident improvements.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and influence engineers, not just execute individually.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a systems-thinking mindset and bias for automation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment and make pragmatic technical trade-offs.
