Lead DevOps Engineer

What's the role

As a Lead DevOps Engineer, you will own and evolve the DevOps and cloud infrastructure practices that support HERE's web platforms. The role focuses on ensuring platform reliability, scalability, and security, while leading CI/CD strategy, deployment standards, and operational excellence. You will provide technical leadership, guide platform modernization, and support teams in delivering high-quality web solutions safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and evolve DevOps and cloud infrastructure practices supporting HERE's web platforms
• Own and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment standards, and release processes
• Ensure platform reliability, scalability, security, and performance across environments
• Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts
• Develop and maintain enterprise-grade IAM solutions, focusing on user, group, and membership management.
• Work with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Kubernetes, etc.) to deliver scalable, high-availability applications.
• Build and maintain high-quality enterprise software using TypeScript, REST APIs, and JSON.
• Guide platform modernization initiatives and adoption of new tooling or technologies
• Collaborate with engineering, platform, and security teams to align on best practices

Who are you

You are an experienced DevOps or platform engineer who understands cloud infrastructure, automation, and production operations. You are proactive, collaborative, and comfortable balancing handson work with mentoring others. You bring:

• Strong experience in DevOps or cloud engineering with ownership of production systems.
• Proven experience managing AWS infrastructure (VPC, IAM, ECS/Lambda, RDS).
• Handson experience with Vercel deployments and environment configuration.
• Expertise in CI/CD (especially GitLab CI/CD) across build, deploy, rollback workflows.
• Practical experience in monitoring, alerting, incident response, and RCA.
• Strong understanding of networking (DNS, SSL/TLS, CDN configuration).
• Ability to implement and maintain security best practices.
• Comfort owning systems endtoend across deployment and operations.
• (Nice to have) Exposure to serverless/edge, Docker, hightraffic web platforms, developerexperience tooling, compliance/security tooling, or mentoring experience.
