Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize our database systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, security, and reliability of databases across environments. This role requires strong expertise in database design, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and troubleshooting in both on-premise and cloud environments.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain database systems (SQL Server / MySQL / PostgreSQL as applicable)
- Monitor database performance and ensure high availability and reliability
- Perform database tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies
- Manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes
- Implement and maintain database security, access controls, and compliance standards
- Troubleshoot database issues, including performance bottlenecks and failures
- Design and maintain database schemas, tables, views, and stored procedures
- Support application teams with database-related requirements and performance improvements
- Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations
- Monitor system health, logs, and alerts; take proactive actions to prevent issues
- Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams for deployment and scaling
- Maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience as a Database Administrator
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server / MySQL / PostgreSQL
- Proficiency in SQL and query optimization techniques
- Experience with performance tuning, indexing, and execution plans
- Hands-on experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
- Knowledge of high availability solutions (Replication, Clustering, Always On, etc.)
- Experience with database security and access management
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure / AWS / GCP)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Knowledge of automation/scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
- Experience with monitoring tools (SQL Profiler, Azure Monitor, etc.)
- Understanding of data warehousing and ETL processes
