Job Description

Are you passionate about building cutting-edge Machine Learning (ML) solutions that enhance the PlayStation experience for millions of users This role is part of the Machine Learning team, committed to delivering impactful insights and personalized experiences across PlayStation platforms.

As a Lead Data Scientist, you will design, develop, and deploy large-scale ML models and data pipelines, collaborating with cross-functional teams in an agile environment. You will work with state-of-the-art ML technologies, lead multiple projects, and drive AI/ML innovation across the organization.

Technology Stack

Core ML & Data Science Expertise:

Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics

NLP, Linear Regression, Classification & Clustering, Transfer Learning

Forecasting Models, Large Language Models (LLMs)

Tools & Frameworks:

ML Frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, MLlib, DataBricks

Programming & Data Tools: Python, SQL, Spark

MLOps & Deployment: Kubernetes, Jenkins, Prometheus

Qualifications & Experience

Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field with a specialization in Machine Learning (or equivalent experience).

5+ years of hands-on experience in Data Science & ML model development.

Proven experience in building and deploying production-level large-scale ML models & data pipelines.

Strong background in Python, Scala, or Java.

Industry experience in ML-based solutions, including:

  • Online safety,
  • Conversational AI (voice-activated systems),
  • Recommender systems,
  • Search engines,
  • Personalization,
  • Time-series forecasting,
  • A/B testing.
  • Expertise in machine learning, statistics, and analytical methods.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End ML Model Development & Deployment:

  • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning and deep learning models for high-impact consumer applications (predictive safety, content personalization, search, virtual assistant, time-series forecasting, etc.).
  • Work with large-scale structured and unstructured data using modern big data & streaming technologies.
  • Optimize ML models for scalability, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Produce reusable, production-grade code in Python, Scala, or Java.
  • Implement A/B testing & evaluation metrics to measure model performance.

Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Lead a team of ML engineers & data scientists, ensuring the successful execution of AI/ML projects.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable ML solutions.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and proof of concepts (PoCs) for AI-driven applications.
  • Share expertise by mentoring & upskilling team members through knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Business) to define and execute the ML roadmap.

Innovation & Strategy:

  • Stay updated with the latest AI/ML research and integrate emerging technologies into PlayStation's ML ecosystem.
  • Influence software development best practices and industry trends.
  • Drive AI/ML capability-building initiatives within the organization.
