UltraTech Cement is looking for Manager – Lead Contracts (Legal) to join our Legal Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a legal professional who enjoys working on complex commercial transactions, strategic business initiatives, renewable energy projects, and corporate advisory matters in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The Manager Legal will be primarily responsible for:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating different commercial contracts related with the business of UltraTech including, supply agreements, service agreements, conveyance deeds, NDAs, engagement letters, term-sheets, purchase orders etc.
- Advise other functions concerning matters of policy and risk management, and seeking to ensure compliance with such policies and minimization of risks to the company;
- Research and advise on the applicable legislation and required approvals in various projects and areas of work including on legal aspects of mining, environment, contracts, land acquisition, etc.;
- To support the legal function in contracts related with renewable energy;
- To support the Team in due diligence for M&A transactions pertaining to the various businesses of UltraTech.
- To be an individual contributor as well as team member as may be necessary.
Job Responsibilities
- Serves as a member of the Legal Team.
- Drafting high-quality contracts with a clear understanding of commercials.
- Deliver assigned contracts and advisory responsibilities, at both an operational and policy level by working meticulously with specialized knowledge & practical experience in these domains and experience of executing with integrity.
- To ensure and protect the legal interest of UltraTech by ensuring that risk involved in contracts executed by UltraTech is minimized.
- To ensure quick turnarounds of contracts and advisory without compromising quality.
- Provide general legal/risk mitigation advice to multi-functional texxs on miscellaneous matters, such as land, EHS, security, factory compliance, labor & employment matters, privacy, and regulatory issues.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel engaged to represent the company with respect to asserted claims or legal proceedings.
- Collaborate with various cross functional team members. Influencing stakeholders and managing commercial expectations.
- Maintain MIS for the Team and provide regular updates on relevant case law/legislation important for UltraTech.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's/master's degree in law from a Tier 1 or reputed law school.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience preferably in manufacturing based industries/top law firms.
- Sound understanding of relevant laws (M&A/Companies Act/Indian Contract Act/Mining/Environment/Real Estate).
- Team player, sharp understanding of business and proactive.
- Strong research skills and ability to work in a high pressure environment.

- Ability to communicate effectively and inspire confidence in stakeholders, and peers.
