Role: Lead Cognos Developer

Role Summary
Technical lead for the offshore Cognos team on a MicroStrategy-to-Cognos migration. Owns the semantic/data-modeling layer, sets development standards, drives the data reconciliation approach, and mentors two mid-level developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the Cognos metadata layer Framework Manager packages and/or data modules and translate MicroStrategy s model into it.
- Define reusable report patterns, naming standards, and best practices for the offshore team.
- Tackle the most complex report and dashboard migrations (multi-prompt reports, complex dossiers/RSDs).
- Own the data reconciliation strategy define how source-vs-target output is validated and signed off.
- Review the mid-level developers work and enforce quality and consistency.
- Implement the Cognos security model (roles, namespaces, capabilities).
- Lead performance tuning across reports and queries.
- Serve as the offshore technical point of contact with the onshore architect, BA, and QE.
Required Skills
- 10 12+ years in BI, with deep hands-on Cognos Analytics (11.x / 12) and strong data modeling (Framework Manager / data modules).
- Expert SQL and solid data warehousing design (dimensional modeling, star schema).
- Proven experience leading or anchoring a BI migration; MicroStrategy Cognos a strong plus.
- Performance tuning plus Cognos administration / security familiarity.
- Ability to mentor, review work, and coordinate a small offshore team across US-overlap hours.
