Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chemist to join our team at the Water Technology Center in Kanchipuram. The successful candidate will lead research, development, and innovation efforts in the field of water treatment, contributing to advancements in water technologies and enhancing the efficiency of processes through a combination of technical expertise, project leadership, and economic analysis. This is a key role that requires a deep understanding of both the chemical mechanisms and the economics behind the solutions developed.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage complex related to water chemistry for the projects focused on water treatment technologies, ensuring alignment with business objectives and delivering tangible results.
  2. Propose and implement novel ideas to enhance existing processes and products, driving innovation within the organization
  3. Mentor and guide project teams, aligning their efforts with project goals and ensuring effective execution
  4. Conduct laboratory experiments, set up lab test kits, and manage the synthesis of chemicals required for water treatment processes
  5. Analyze and interpret analytical results derived from techniques such as LC-MS, ICP-MS, IC, and GC-MS, offering technical assessments and recommendations
  6. Present findings, project updates, and innovations to senior management, articulating the technical and economic impact of the projects
  7. Stay current with advancements in the field of water chemistry, particularly in water treatment technologies like advanced oxidation, ion exchange, and physical separations
  8. Work with cross-functional teams to integrate findings into larger organizational strategies and goals.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: PhD in Chemistry (or related field)
  2. Experience: Minimum of 07-10 years of experience in the chemical or water treatment industry, with a proven track record of leading projects that have resulted in tangible benefits to the business.
  3. Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in organic chemistry and a deep understanding of structure-activity relationships.
    • Expertise in water treatment processes, including advanced oxidation, ion exchange, adsorption, electrochemistry, and physical separations.
    • Experience with analytical techniques such as LC-MS, ICP-MS, IC, and GC-MS, with the ability to interpret complex data and apply it to practical solutions.
    • Strong communication skills, with experience presenting findings to senior management.
    • Ability to quickly set up laboratory experiments and synthesize chemicals in a time-bound manner.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience in creating clear, professional presentations.
      Bonus: Experience with Python coding or scripting tools and familiarity with molecular modeling tools.
  4. Strong leadership and project management abilities, with experience aligning teams with project expectations and mentoring team members towards successful execution.
  5. A good understanding of the economic aspects of the solutions developed and the ability to connect chemical phenomena with their financial impact.

Location:

The position is based at the Water Technology Center in Kanchipuram, and the candidate must be willing to work out of this location.
