About Sharda Energy Tech

Sharda Energy Tech Private Limited is building capabilities in advanced energy storage solutions, with a focus on developing and manufacturing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for residential, commercial & industrial, mobile and utility-scale applications.

We are looking for a technically strong and hands-on professional to take ownership of the engineering and development of our BESS product portfolio.

Role Overview

The BESS R&D & Product Engineering Lead will be responsible for designing and developing complete BESS solutions from concept through prototype, validation and production handover.

The candidate should have a strong understanding of the complete BESS architecture and be capable of translating customer requirements into safe, reliable and commercially viable energy storage solutions.

The role will work alongside our existing engineering and production teams while taking ownership of the overall product engineering and technical development process.

Key Responsibilities

• Design complete BESS solutions based on customer load profiles, backup requirements, solar integration, tariff structures, site conditions and application requirements.
• Develop products ranging from approximately 5 kWh residential systems to 5 MWh+ containerized and utility-scale BESS solutions.
• Lead engineering across:
• Cell selection and configuration
• Battery module and pack architecture
• BMS architecture and integration
• PCS/inverter selection and integration
• EMS integration
• Thermal management and liquid/air cooling systems
• Fire detection and suppression systems
• Electrical protection and switchgear
• LV/MV architecture
• Container and enclosure design
• Grid integration
• Grid-forming applications
• Develop customized BESS configurations according to specific client applications.
• Own prototype development, engineering validation, testing and technical troubleshooting.
• Define product specifications, BOMs, drawings, engineering documentation and technical requirements.
• Coordinate product certification and compliance requirements.
• Develop manufacturing SOPs, work instructions, testing procedures and production engineering requirements.
• Support the production team during product industrialization and scale-up.
• Technically evaluate cells, BMS, PCS, cooling systems and other critical suppliers/components.
• Investigate field issues and lead root-cause analysis and engineering improvements.
• Work with internal and external teams for development or acquisition of BMS/EMS technologies.
• Continuously improve product performance, safety, reliability, cost and manufacturability.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 3+ years of direct hands-on experience in batteries, BESS, power electronics, energy storage or closely related technologies.
• Demonstrated experience developing commercially deployable battery or BESS products.
• Strong understanding of complete BESS system architecture.
• Ability to independently develop a technical solution from customer requirement to engineering design.
• Strong knowledge of lithium-ion/LFP battery systems, electrical systems and system integration.
• Experience with prototype development, testing, validation and product industrialization.
• Familiarity with BESS safety standards and certification requirements.
• Strong problem-solving and engineering decision-making ability.
• Comfortable taking technical ownership while working with multidisciplinary teams.

Advanced qualifications such as M.Tech, MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Energy Storage, Battery Technology, Electrochemistry or related disciplines would be valued; however, demonstrated hands-on product development experience will be given greater importance.

Reporting

The role will report directly to the Director.

Candidates currently based anywhere in India or overseas may apply, provided they are willing to relocate to Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

Travel may be required depending on project, vendor and customer requirements.
