Role & Responsibilities

Lead Art Direction will be responsible for shaping and leading the visual direction for WTF Podcasts. Working closely with the Creative Director, this role ensures that all podcast-led content and social touchpoints maintain the highest creative and visual standards.

The role sits at the intersection of design, creativity, execution, and leadership- overseeing podcast visuals, social content design, and related assets while guiding designers to deliver consistent, high-quality output across platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Design Leadership & Vision-

  • Define, build, and drive a cohesive visual language for flagship assets for IPs.
  • Own and uphold the creative quality bar, continuously raising standards.
  • Direct visual design for creative assets across platforms, ensuring top-of-class execution.
  • Create a strong design process with the Creative Director for all designers to follow.
  • Strong documentation of work done (on Asana ideally)

Execution, Quality & Workflow-

  • Oversee and conduct visual and holistic quality checks across assets
  • Attention to detail is highly important.
  • Improve and streamline design workflows to support fast-paced, high-volume content production.
  • Quick adaptability and prioritization of tasks based on creative requests.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management-

  • Work closely with internal and external teams (designers and animators).
  • Pitch design concepts and visual directions in internal meetings that correlate to a specific marketing campaigns.
  • Collaborate with podcast hosts, creators, and leadership to ensure visual and creative alignment.
  • Coordinate with external vendors or production partners where required for podcast-related design needs.
  • Create a systematic clear process with the team and external vendors to bring harmony to the design process.

Strategy & Creative Growth-

  • Identify and pitch new visual ideas, formats, and design innovations to the CD.
  • Contribute to content and storytelling strategy through a strong aesthetic lens.
  • Stay attuned to cultural, platform, and content trends and translate them into relevant visual approaches.

Ideal Candidate

  • Strong Art Direction / Visual Design Leadership Profile
  • Mandatory (Experience 1) : Must have 7+ YOE in Art Direction / Video Production / Graphic Design, with strong exposure to Video creation, Podcasts and Motion Graphics
  • Mandatory (Skill 1) : Must have strong experience in Video-first content, social media design, and digital storytelling
  • Mandatory (Skill 2) : Must have experience working in content-heavy / fast-paced environments (media, content, marketing, or digital-first brands)
  • Mandatory (Skill 3) : Must have strong expertise in visual storytelling, design systems, and building cohesive visual languages
  • Mandatory (Skill 4) : Must have hands-on experience in designing for social, digital, and video content (thumbnails, creatives, motion-led assets, etc.)
  • Mandatory (Leadership) : Must have experience in guiding/mentoring designers and owning creative quality output
  • Mandatory (Stakeholder Mgmt) : Must have experience working with cross-functional teams (designers, animators, creators, marketing teams) and pitching concepts
  • Mandatory (Portfolio) : Must have very strong portfolio showcasing Podcasts, Marketing Videos, Motion Graphics and visual story-telling
  • Mandatory (Tools) : Must be proficient in design tools (Adobe Creative Suite Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, etc.)
  • Mandatory (Note) : Hybrid, WFH flexibility 4 days a month
  • Preferred (Company) : Top Advertising / Creative agency
  • Preferred (Education) : Design Graduate from Tier-1 colleges (IIT, NID, NIFT, BITS etc)
  • Preferred (Experience) : Experience working with podcasts, creators, or media-led content
