Responsibilities

What you'll do

As our Lead Analyst - Investment Performance, you will play a crucial role in delivering accurate and timely performance measurement and portfolio analytics. Your work will support portfolio management and client reporting, ensuring flawless execution and adherence to regulatory and operational procedures, including Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS). You will act as a subject matter expert, independently investigating and resolving complex data and process issues. Additionally, you will lead or participate in projects that enable new initiatives, process reviews, and system improvements. Establishing effective relationships with internal and external partners is key to your success, and you will provide mentorship and informal mentor support to junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

Produce and control performance and analytics

  • Calculate, validate, and publish portfolio and benchmark performance, attribution, characteristics/analytics, asset modeling/valuation, and risk measures with high accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Implement Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) and internal policies; keep records of controls, approvals, and audit trails.
  • Identify, resolve, and clearly explain complex issues and data irregularities; act as a subject matter expert for performance tasks; lead or participate in projects.

Partner with collaborators and distribute results

  • Collaborate with Operations, RFP, Relationship Management, IT, clients, boutiques, and the GIPS verifier to acquire inputs, clarify requirements, and resolve problems.
  • Guarantee accurate and timely delivery of performance, attribution, characteristics/analytics, and risk measures for portfolios and benchmarks; explain inputs, dependencies, and data flows in straightforward terms.

SME support, procedures, and decision making

  • Research issues, formulate recommendations, make independent decisions, and communicate clearly.
  • Serve as procedures contact and team resource, document updates to ways of working.

Continuous learning and improvement

  • Deepen knowledge of Principal Global Investors (PGI) products, client needs, financial markets, portfolio/benchmark construction, and security/asset class characteristics through self-study and training.
  • Proactively recommend and implement more efficient ways to produce investment data and results.

Mentor and support junior team members

  • Provide mentorship, share standard methodologies, and review work to build team capability.

Additional Responsibilities And Special Assignments

  • Carry out other job-related duties and special projects as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business (or an equivalent qualification).
  • 7–10 years of experience in investment or mutual fund operations (or related field).
  • Solid knowledge of GIPS, financial markets, investment strategies, security types, risk statistics, investment performance, characteristics/analytics, and attribution methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Diligent, organized, and reliable when working under deadlines. Operate with high integrity and follow all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies (Corporate Code of Ethics, compliance, and operations procedures).
  • Tools/Tech: Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word; performance measurement/attribution/risk platforms (TBD); data repositories/warehouses (TBD); reporting/visualization tools (TBD).

  • Ability to independently complete complex calculations, analyze trends, and explain drivers and anomalies to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Practical application of GIPS and performance attribution concepts in daily production and control environments.
  • Relationship building and collaboration across Operations, IT, client-facing teams, boutiques, and external verifiers.
  • Experience guiding or participating in projects, process evaluations, and system upgrades; ease with change and ongoing improvement.
  • Dedication to mentoring junior team members and sharing guidelines.

Must Have

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience / Master's degree or equivalent experience (any stream)
