Job Description

Value Proposition-

This role provides the unique opportunity to utilize your extensive regulatory and data knowledge to advise and recommend appropriate reporting solutions and build out key processes to ensure data remains accurate and complete for downstream regulatory consumption. Additionally, this role supports the preparation of Credit disclosures as prescribed by the U.S. GAAP as disclosed in the Bank Regulatory Reports, including but not limited to the Call report, FR-Y9C, and the FR-Y14s.

About The Team

This position is part of the Credit External Reporting team created to support the Large Financial Institution (LFI) reporting requirements, and to ensure compliance with US GAAP and other regulatory agencies reporting instructions.

Impact

This role is crucial to the loan reporting process to deliver and maintain ongoing accuracy and completeness of regulatory data used for reporting.

Key Deliverables

  • Take ownership for all assigned loan reporting process areas, which includes obtaining a comprehensive understanding of loan related process activities and controls as well as related company policies and external loan accounting and reporting guidelines and act as a subject matter expert for each of these assigned loan process areas
  • Liaise with Accounting Policy, Regulatory Reporting, to perform research, analysis and implementation of existing and new loan related accounting pronouncements and reporting instructions
  • Preparation/review of loan related Regulatory Reporting manual data submissions generation via automated or manual data extraction i.e. SQL Cognos / Other Tech processes for the following reports:
    • 14-Q
    • Y-9C
    • FFIEC031/Call
    • Other Regulatory Reports
  • Preparation/review/establishment of loan reconciliation process (including relevant system data extraction queries/methods) for the FRY-9C/14-Q/FFIEC031 Reports, including applicable reporting and technology related controls
  • Preparation/review/establishment of loan reporting data quality monitoring process
  • Perform review/research of loan related system logic on an ongoing basis
    • Provide data attribute recommendations on new/changed sourcing logic
    • Review loan system logic changes as a part of UAT process including approval
    • Participate in research of loan related system attributes
Skills And Qualification

Functional Skills

  • Education: Masters Degree in Accounting and / or Data Related Degree plus, CA / CPA preferred
  • Prior work experience: This individual will have a minimum+ 8-10 years of experience with Loan reporting and related data and a distinguished record of performance as an accounting or reporting professional.
  • Prior career experience with a major public accounting firm or with a major financial institution/banking industry (in the US) is required along with exposure to FRY-14Q report
  • Proficient in US GAAP and relevant accounting and financial reporting matters with Bank Regulatory Reporting exposure for US based banks

Technical/Business Skills

  • Strong SQL skills and Excel (formulas, pivot tables, etc.) proficient, advanced is a plus
  • Advanced skillset in data querying, manipulation, & wrangling through use of SQL
  • Ability to research and propose reporting or data solutions on complex loan related accounting and reporting issues
  • Experience with data cleansing and testing
  • Experience with various reporting platforms (e.g. Tableau, Business Objects) a plus
  • Experience solving problems using data and advanced analytic techniques to provide business insights
  • Possess the ability to resolve data quality challenges and build infrastructure with their technical counterparts to transform data from disparate sources into dashboards that will be used for reporting
  • Provide support in making strategic data related decisions by analyzing, manipulating, tracking, internally managing and reporting data
  • Drives creative, innovative ways to approach problems, processes and projects
  • Strong discretion with an eye for data governance and compliance
