Job Purpose

We're hiring a Lead AI Platform Engineer: a lead, hands-on engineer who will champion our AI Development Life Cycle (AIDLC) across engineering teams and design and build core parts of our AI platform, working day to day with our Pune and US AI platform team.

The team owns the Agentic AI Platform and drives AI adoption, including AIDLC, across the engineering departments. We don't hand work off after release: the team builds it, ships it, monitors it, and supports it in production.

This is an individual contributor role, not a team lead or people-management position. You lead through technical depth: owning hard problems, setting a high bar for quality, and helping the engineers around you do their best work.

What You Will Own:

You will own technical design and delivery for your areas of the AI platform, and help drive AIDLC adoption across engineering.

• The Agentic AI Platform: the agentic runtime and LLM gateway.
• Shared platform services : a growing set of services, such as a knowledge base built on a vector database.
• AIDLC and AI adoption: helping engineering teams across departments implement AIDLC, AI coding tools, and engineering automation.

Responsibilities:

AIDLC and AI adoption

• Make AI-assisted engineering the norm by championing AIDLC, AI coding tools, and engineering automation.
• Help engineering teams across departments implement AIDLC in their own workflows and codebases.

Technical design

• Take on the most complex platform work across the AI platform, Databricks, and shared services.
• Make design and trade-off decisions for your areas.
• Contribute to technical planning with the Pune and US teams.

Hands-on engineering

• Spend time writing, testing, and shipping code across Python, TypeScript, C#, and Elixir codebases.

Engineering quality

• Set a high bar for testing, code review, design documentation, and observability through your own work and reviews.
• Work closely with QA and DevOps so quality is built in, not inspected in.

Production ownership

• Make sure what you ship is deployed safely, monitored, and supported in production.
• Help lead the response when something breaks.

Cross-site collaboration

• Collaborate closely with the OPTI US team by sharing designs, aligning priorities, and keeping work moving across time zones.

• And other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

We care about lead-level capability, not a title. Manager experience is not required if you've been the person others go to for technical direction.

• Lead-level software engineering experience building and running production systems, typically 10+ years.
• Production experience in at least two of Python, TypeScript, Elixir, and C#, and the comfort to pick up the rest.
• A strong testing mindset: you design for testability and treat automated tests as part of the work.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and engineering automation, and a view on how they change the way teams build software.
• Experience working with AIDLC or a similar structured approach to AI-assisted delivery.
• Experience owning services in production, including deployments, monitoring, and incident response.
• Experience supporting other engineers through code review, pairing, and design discussions.
• Clear written and spoken English, and confidence working with distributed teams across India and the US.

Nice to Have:

• Experience building with LLMs, such as agents, tool use, orchestration, or an LLM gateway.
• Exposure to Databricks, Spark, or large-scale data pipelines.
• Azure knowledge, including CI/CD.
• Experience onboarding new team members.
• Background in enterprise software.
