Role Description The Lathe Operator role is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The Lathe Operator will set up and operate lathe machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and technical specifications. Daily responsibilities include interpreting technical and engineering drawings, selecting appropriate tools and materials, performing machining operations such as turning and facing, and measuring finished parts to ensure quality standards. The role involves routine maintenance of machines, monitoring performance, and reporting any issues to supervisors. The Lathe Operator will work closely with other production and quality team members to meet project timelines and maintain a safe and organized workspace.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Machine Operation skills, including experience with lathe machines and basic Milling operations.
- Candidates should be able to read and interpret Technical Drawing and Engineering Drawings accurately for machining tasks.
- Candidates should have practical Maintenance skills for routine care and minor troubleshooting of machining equipment.
- Relevant technical qualification or diploma in Mechanical or Production engineering, or equivalent vocational training in machining.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment, preferably in precision component production.
- Ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges, with attention to detail and quality standards.
- Understanding of workplace safety practices and willingness to follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Basic communication skills in English or local language, and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
