Position: Consultant / Senior Consultant - Gynaecology & Laparoscopic Gynae Surgery

Department: Obstetrics & Gynaecology / Minimal Access Surgery

Reports To: Medical Superintendent / Medical Director / HOD

Job Summary

Responsible for providing specialized diagnostic and surgical care for female reproductive health conditions, with a focus on minimally invasive (laparoscopic and hysteroscopic) surgical procedures. Manages OPD consultations, elective endoscopic surgeries, gynaecological emergencies, and post-operative recovery.

Key Responsibilities

Surgical Interventions: Perform basic and advanced laparoscopic/hysteroscopic procedures (e.g., Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy [TLH], laparoscopic myomectomy, ovarian cystectomy, endometriosis excision, and diagnostic/operative hysteroscopy).
Clinical Management: Conduct specialized OPD consultations, perform gynaecological evaluations, manage pelvic pain and fertility-related surgical interventions, and oversee daily IPD rounds.
Emergency Management: Respond to acute gynaecological emergencies (e.g., ruptured ectopic pregnancy, ovarian torsion, pelvic inflammatory disease, severe AUB).
Pre & Post-Operative Care: Formulate individualized treatment plans, conduct pre-op counseling, ensure strict surgical safety protocols, and direct post-operative recovery.
Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate patient case sheets, operation notes, discharge summaries, and adhere to clinical audit and NABH standards.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

Category Criteria Education MBBS + MS / MD / DNB in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (Fellowship in Gynaecological Endoscopy / FMAS preferred) Registration Active State Medical Council / National Medical Commission (NMC) registration Experience 2 to 5+ years post-MS/MD/DNB with a documented logbook of laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries Core Skills Advanced laparoscopic suturing, pelvic anatomy expertise, intra-operative risk management, compassionate patient counseling, and post-op care
