Land surveyor

Core responsibilities

• Conduct surveys: Perform physical surveys using specialized equipment such as GPS, total stations, and theodolites to measure and determine land boundaries, features, and topography. 
• Data collection and analysis: Gather and analyze data to create accurate maps, plans, and reports, ensuring the precision of all measurements and calculations. 
• Research: Examine historical land records, survey records, and property titles to understand the context and history of the land. 
• Boundary establishment: Establish and verify official land and property lines, often involving fieldwork and problem-solving. 
• Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, architects, construction teams, and other professionals to provide accurate land information for projects. 
• Reporting and presentation: Prepare and present detailed maps, legal descriptions, and reports to clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders. 
• Legal compliance: Ensure that all survey work complies with relevant legal and regulatory standards, and provide expert testimony in legal disputes if necessary. 
• Project management: Manage survey teams and project timelines, especially for senior or lead surveyors.
