Overview
The Lab Technician supports engineering teams across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and testing domains. This role is part of the shared technical pool and is responsible for PCB rework, lab upkeep, and operating test equipment. The technician ensures smooth functioning of engineering labs by maintaining equipment, supporting prototype builds, and assisting in validation activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform PCB rework including soldering, de-soldering, component replacement, and minor circuit modifications.
- Support engineers by assembling, handling, and preparing prototype hardware for testing.
- Operate lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, and environmental chambers.
- Maintain lab organization, cleanliness, and compliance with safety and ESD practices.
- Track, calibrate, and maintain lab instruments and equipment.
- Assist in basic electrical and mechanical measurements, data logging, and test setup preparation.
- Follow engineering instructions and document test observations accurately.
- Manage inventory of components, tools, consumables, and test accessories.
- Support verification and validation teams during test execution when required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Engineering OR Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, or related engineering discipline.
- 2-9 years of Hands-on experience with PCB soldering, rework tools, and ESD-safe practices.
- Basic understanding of electronic components, circuits, and test methods.
- Ability to operate standard electrical and electronics lab test equipment.
- Good documentation skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow engineering instructions accurately and work independently.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
