Job Designation: Laboratory Assistant (Physics)
Job Summary:
The Laboratory Assistant (Physics) will support the effective functioning of the physics laboratory by assisting faculty, preparing lab setups, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety standards. The role requires hands-on knowledge of laboratory instruments and a proactive approach to supporting academic and research activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up laboratory equipment and experiments as per curriculum requirements
- Assist students and faculty during practical sessions
- Maintain, clean, and calibrate laboratory instruments and apparatus
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and inventory of lab materials and equipment
- Follow and enforce laboratory safety protocols and guidelines
- Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and coordinate repairs when required
- Maintain records of lab usage, equipment logs, and inventory
- Support research and project work as needed
- Strong understanding of physics laboratory practices and procedures
- Basic technical knowledge of laboratory instruments and tools
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and students
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Engineering / Technology in the relevant branch (Physics or related field) with First Class or equivalent
Professional Certifications
- Relevant certifications in laboratory management or safety (preferred but not mandatory)
Professional Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a physics laboratory or similar role
