Laboratory Assistant

Applications are invited for the position of Laboratory Assistant (LA) for the research project sanctioned by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India to Dr. Partha Laskar, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, GITAM School of Sciences, GITAM (Deemed to be) University, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. The selected candidate shall have an opportunity to register for Ph.D. program at GITAM (Deemed to be University) under the supervision of the Principal Investigator upon fulfilling required qualification.

Title of the Research Project: Lab-in-cell based intracellular polymerization-induced self-assembly of chemotherapeutic drugs for cancer therapy.

Project Duration: The post is temporary and renewable each year subject to satisfactory performance for a maximum period of three years.

Essential Qualification: First class M.Sc or M.Tech in any branch of Chemical or Biological Sciences.

Desirable: Preference will be given to the highly motivated person with

(i) prior working experience in chemistry or biology laboratory (mores specifically, synthetic chemistry/polymer chemistry/cell biology/molecular biology studies).

(ii) a strong work ethic and a commitment to cross-disciplinary

collaboration.

(iii) excellent English communication skills with a readiness to travel for project-work.

Responsibilities: The selected candidate will work on developing intracellular polymerization techniques, polymerization induced self-assembly behavior, assessing their therapeutic impact against cancer. The project will involve chemical synthesis, biophysical and analytical characterization, cell culture, in vitro cell and molecular biology experiments.
