Summary Of Key Functions
The Peer Educator will be responsible for supporting the outreach team in planning of service delivery by the project. The peer educators would be responsible to identify individual or groups who are at risk of HIV/AIDS and their partners who require services including the networks. Peer educator will make inroads to these networks and motivate them to use condoms, recognize the need for regular medical checkup and visit to preferred providers or clinics, recognize the need for HIV testing and safe disposal of used condoms/needles and syringes. Will motivate the individuals or groups to improve their self-esteem and communities to access services and other social development benefits.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist the Medical Officer during client medical history taking and examination
- Conduct clinical examination of the client including general examination, systemic examination and internal examination; and create individual client file such as body weight, height, blood pressure levels and any other medical findings.
- Guide patients for various tests as advised by a doctor, support in sample collection, storage and transport as per protocols.
- Willing to get trained/updated on service delivery components such as PrEP and HRT
- Support the Clinic Manager and outreach team in service delivery planning and organising health camps.
- Perform point of care test at the clinic / satellite clinics / field level as per the demand.
- Maintain universal precaution for blood safety related issues and take care of the cleanliness of the clinic.
- Explain the medication dosage to the client based on the prescription.
- Ensure at least 10 clients are prescribed for hormone therapy and medicines are sold from pharmacy. Discuss with new clients in the community and clinic for this purpose.
- Maintain record of medicines/testing kits/ necessary consumables and forecast requirement of the same on a monthly basis to ensure adequate stock- as hard copy and computerized records.
- Participate in review meetings; and assist the team in identifying and addressing the gap areas in patient care and clinic management.
- Ensure client confidentiality, data security and protection as informed during induction mentioned in the SOP.
- Ensure that a friendly environment is created the clients are comfortable.
- Any other work assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
Qualification and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree/diploma in Nursing with 3 years of relevant experience
- Trans identified person is preferred for this position with knowledge of English, Telugu and Hindi language
- Maintains professionalism and works as an active team member
