Position Overview:

The Lab Technician/Technical Assistant will support the - department in maintaining laboratories, assisting in practical sessions, and ensuring a smooth and safe lab environment for faculty and students. The role requires hands-on experience with computing hardware, software installations, networking, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lab Maintenance & Setup:
• Set up and maintain computer lab infrastructure, including hardware and software.
• Regularly inspect lab equipment, systems, and tools for functionality.
• Maintain inventory of lab assets and equipment.
• Technical Support:
• Assist faculty and students during practical classes.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues.
• Provide support for system updates, installations, and configurations.
• Documentation & Compliance:
• Keep detailed records of lab activities, incidents, and usage logs.
• Ensure safety standards and data security protocols are followed.
• Upkeep and Innovation:
• Coordinate with IT services for technical upgrades and maintenance.
• Suggest improvements in lab setups for enhanced learning experience.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Educational Requirements:
• Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science / IT.
• Experience:
• 1+ year of experience in a similar technical/lab support role, preferably in an academic institution.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Basic knowledge of networking, servers, and system configuration.
• Familiarity with programming environments, IDEs, and simulation tools (e.g., NetBeans, Eclipse, Packet Tracer).
• Soft Skills:
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Organizational skills to manage time and lab activities efficiently.
