The Corporate Laboratory Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing, standardizing, and optimizing laboratory services across the hospital network. This role ensures quality, regulatory compliance, cost efficiency and operational excellence across all diagnostic laboratories within the group.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations across all hospitals in the network
- Standardize lab processes, SOPs, workflows, and reporting formats
- Monitor TAT, test volumes, quality indicators, and productivity metrics
- Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, equipment, and reagents
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with NABL, CAP, NABH, ISO and other regulatory standards
- Lead internal audits, external audits, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Implement quality improvement initiatives and patient safety protocols
Financial & Cost Control
- Prepare and manage laboratory budgets across units
- Control reagent costs, vendor contracts, AMC/CMC and consumables
- Drive cost optimization without compromising quality
Technology & Automation
- Oversee LIS implementation, integration with HIS, and digital reporting
- Evaluate and implement automation, new equipment, and diagnostic technologies
- Ensure data accuracy, cybersecurity, and system uptime
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop lab managers, pathologists, and technical staff
- Support recruitment, training, competency assessment, and performance reviews
- Foster a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with equipment vendors, reference labs, and service partners
- Coordinate with clinicians, hospital administrators, and corporate leadership
- Support new hospital launches, lab setup, and commissioning
Qualifications
- MD / DNB (Pathology / Microbiology / Biochemistry)
- MSc / PhD / MLT with strong hospital lab leadership experience
Experience
- 12 to 15 years of experience in hospital laboratory services
- Minimum 3–5 years in a multi-unit or corporate leadership role preferred
