Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Lab Engineer with 3 5 years of experience in electronics hardware development, PCB assembly, testing, and validation. The ideal candidate will support the Controls Engineering Lab by developing test setups, assembling and debugging PCBAs, performing hardware validation, preparing wiring harnesses, and managing electronic components and laboratory inventory. The role requires strong practical knowledge of embedded hardware, analog and digital electronics, and communication protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop manual and automated test simulators for embedded control hardware.
- Perform high-precision PCBA hand assembly, SMD soldering, rework, and validation.
- Debug, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair PCBAs and electronic hardware modules.
- Support electronics board bring-up, functional testing, and validation activities.
- Assist in basic hardware design for embedded systems and power supply circuits.
- Prepare control wiring, cable assemblies, and wiring harnesses for laboratory builds.
- Select, source, and procure electronic components, tools, and laboratory equipment.
- Maintain electronics lab inventory, materials, and stores.
- Provide hands-on technical support to Controls Engineering Lab teams and project engineers.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety practices, and documentation requirements.
Required Technical Skills- Strong understanding of Electronics and Electrical Engineering fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with embedded control hardware testing.
- Expertise in PCBA hand assembly, SMD soldering, rework, and repair.
- Experience in electronics board bring-up, testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design.
- Experience in control panel wiring, cable routing, and harness preparation.
- Familiarity with embedded hardware modules and power supply design.
- Working knowledge of communication protocols:
- Experience in laboratory inventory management and component procurement.
- Ability to use standard electronic test instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
Desired Skills
- Experience developing automated test fixtures or hardware test simulators.
- Knowledge of embedded electronics validation and diagnostics.
- Exposure to electronics manufacturing processes and quality standards.
