Job Purpose
The Lab Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day coordination, monitoring, and support of laboratory projects at the district level in Chhattisgarh. The role focuses on ensuring smooth laboratory operations, equipment functionality, quality compliance, and coordination between laboratory staff, project teams, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations & Coordination
- Coordinate day-to-day activities of project-supported laboratories at the district level
- Support installation, commissioning, and operationalization of laboratory equipment
- Ensure proper utilization, maintenance, and uptime of laboratory instruments
- Coordinate with lab technicians and facility staff for smooth workflow
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to laboratory protocols, SOPs, biosafety, and quality standards
- Support implementation of internal and external quality assurance programs
- Assist during audits, inspections, and monitoring visits
- Ensure proper waste management and safety practices in laboratories
Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor laboratory performance indicators (tests conducted, equipment status, downtime, etc.)
- Maintain district-wise laboratory records and documentation
- Prepare and submit weekly/monthly laboratory reports to project authorities
- Escalate operational or technical issues in a timely manner
Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
- Act as the district-level coordination point for laboratory-related activities
- Coordinate with equipment vendors for service, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Liaise with District Health Officials, Medical Officers, and lab in-charges
Training & Support
- Support training and capacity-building activities for laboratory staff
- Assist in implementation of new testing protocols or technologies
- Provide on-site support during project roll-outs or upgrades
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), Life Sciences, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related discipline
- DMLT / BMLT candidates preferred
Experience
- 24 years of experience in diagnostic laboratories or laboratory project coordination
- Experience in public health laboratories, hospital labs, or government health projects preferred
- Field-based or district-level experience is an added advantage
Skills & Competencies
- Good understanding of laboratory workflows and diagnostic processes
- Knowledge of lab equipment operation and basic troubleshooting
- Strong coordination, documentation, and reporting skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple facilities
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word)
- Willingness to travel within assigned districts
Language Requirements
- Hindi Mandatory
- English Basic to working knowledge
- Local language/dialect of Chhattisgarh Desirable
