Job Description

Lab AssistantFabrication, Test & Lab Support

TeleBortiX is building state-of-the-art airborne systems.

You will be the hands that keep the lab moving. This is a shared role — you support every team in the shop: aerodynamics, structures, design, and production. One day that's helping lay up a composite part; the next it's setting up a test rig, tending the print farm, or making sure the shelves are stocked and the logs are current. It's an early-career role built for someone hands-on, careful, and hungry — you'll pick up composites, machining, 3D printing, and test work on real airborne hardware, and grow into a specialist as we scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fabrication support: assist composite builds — prep moulds, cut and kit plies, mix resin, help with layup, bagging, and demoulding, then trimming and finishing.
  • Print farm: load, monitor, and change material on the 3D printers, and post-process the parts.
  • Machining & bench: workholding help, deburring, and finishing, and keeping machines and benches clean and maintained.
  • Test support: help the aero and structures teams set up and run bench and rig tests — mount specimens, wire up basic instrumentation, and log data.
  • Inventory & consumables: keep raw stock and consumables stocked and logged, receive deliveries, flag low stock, and pull kits and BOMs for builds.
  • Records: maintain the logs that matter — material lot and out-time records, cure logs, and job travelers — accurately, and without being chased.
  • Housekeeping & safety: keep the lab clean, organised, and safe — PPE, waste handling, and following process every time.
  • General support: be the reliable pair of hands any team in the lab can call on.
Requirements

Candidates should meet three of the five criteria below to apply.

  • Hands-on aptitude — you've built, fixed, or made things, whether at work, in school, or as a hobby.
  • Some exposure to any of: composites, machining, 3D printing, electronics/test, or general fabrication.
  • Careful, methodical, and organised — you understand that logs and inventory only work if they're done right.
  • Comfortable with shop safety and following a process exactly.
  • Genuinely eager to learn the craft and grow.

Note: We welcome recent graduates, ITI / diploma holders, and self-taught makers. If you're short on formal experience but clearly hands-on and hungry, make the case in your application note.

Strongly preferred
  • Any composites, 3D-printing, or machine-shop experience — school, internship, or personal.
  • Comfort with hand and power tools.
  • Basic electronics — wiring, soldering, sensors — useful for test-rig support.
  • A personal building habit: drones, RC, robotics, motorsport, or maker projects.
  • Basic measurement skills (calipers, gauges).
  • First-aid or shop-safety awareness.
Org Structure

You will report directly to the Director, Engineering, and support the whole lab — aerodynamics, structures, design, and production alike. This is a shared role: you work for everyone in the shop.
