Job Description

Network Operations (NOC) (L3)

Job Title: NOC L3 Engineer

A NOC L3 Engineer (Network Operations Center Level 3 Engineer) is a senior-level technical professional responsible for managing and resolving the most complex network and system issues that cannot be resolved by Level 1 or Level 2 support.

Job Summary:

The NOC L3 Engineer provides expert-level support and resolution for escalated issues involving network infrastructure, systems, and applications. They act as the final point of escalation within the NOC and collaborate with engineering teams to identify and resolve root causes of incidents and performance issues. The L3 Engineer also contributes to the development and improvement of processes, tools, and documentation to enhance system reliability and NOC efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the highest level of technical escalation for network, server, and system issues.

Diagnose and resolve complex incidents involving routers, switches, firewalls, servers, and cloud services.

Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for critical incidents and implement corrective actions.

Monitor system performance and network availability, using tools like SolarWinds, Zabbix, Nagios, or Splunk.

Create and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and knowledge base articles.

Collaborate with L1 and L2 teams for training and knowledge transfer.

Work closely with network engineers, system admins, and security teams to deploy patches, upgrades, and enhancements.

Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.

Maintain high availability of all network and server infrastructure in accordance with SLAs.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

5+ years of experience in a NOC or IT infrastructure environment, including 2+ years in a senior or L3 role.

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, etc.

Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, or similar network equipment.

Proficiency with Windows and Linux server environments.

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.

Scripting knowledge (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation is preferred.

Certifications (preferred):

CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE, RHCE, MCSE, or equivalent certifications.

Soft Skills:

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple high-priority issues simultaneously.

Team player with leadership qualities and a proactive approach.
