Job Description
We are looking for a skilled and experienced L2 Infrastructure Engineer to join our team and take charge of Windows patching and vulnerability management. This role is critical to ensuring the security and optimal performance of our Windows servers. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing Windows server OS in enterprise environments, with a focus on automation and efficient patch deployment. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth patch deployments without disrupting business operations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deploy patches and vulnerabilities on Windows servers, ensuring timely and accurate updates.
- Monitor patch compliance and address any issues or discrepancies promptly.
- Lead and guide fellow engineers in troubleshooting patching failures, providing technical expertise and solutions.
- Stay updated with the latest Windows patch management technologies and best practices, implementing innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, security, and business operations, to ensure a seamless patching process.
- Develop and maintain efficient patch deployment processes, optimizing automation and minimizing downtime.
- Ensure adherence to change management procedures and ITIL best practices throughout the patching lifecycle.
- Document and communicate patching activities, providing transparent and accurate reports to stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with patching, ensuring a secure and stable environment.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of IT and business/industry work experience, with a focus on Windows support engineering or a similar role.
- Proven experience working with MECM/SCCM in a Windows environment, with strong scripting skills in PowerShell and VBScript.
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with Windows server OS, including patch management concepts and best practices.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet is highly preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accurate and reliable patch deployments.
- Experience working within an enterprise ticketing system, preferably ServiceNow, for incident, request, and change control management.
- A solid understanding of change management and ITIL principles, with the ability to implement and adhere to best practices.
- A proactive and analytical mindset, with a passion for staying updated with the latest trends in Windows patch management.
