Your Impact
You will partner closely with client service teams to solve complex problems through rigorous analysis and structured insights.
Leveraging your understanding of the mining sector, you will support both strategic decision-making and operational improvements for clients. You will contribute to operational excellence diagnostics across mining sites, helping identify performance improvement opportunities. Your work will include supporting data collection, conducting quantitative analyses, and synthesizing findings with on-ground observations to develop benchmark-driven recommendations.
You will also play a key role in advancing MineLens analytical capabilities by contributing to innovative approaches in mining data analytics, supporting consulting teams and clients remotely and on-site. You will engage in long-term projects that may require international travel for durations of 4 to 8 weeks or longer.
Additionally, you will contribute to strengthening internal knowledge assets and support the development of new tools and solutions that expand the impact and reach of MineLens.
You will join our Client Capabilities Network in Gurugram (India) as part of our global MineLens team. MineLens is part of McKinsey's Global Energy & Materials practice.
MineLens provides mining companies with the strategic business intelligence they need to identify, quantify, and prioritize value creation opportunities in their operations. By combining advanced analytics, a comprehensive database of mining performance benchmarks, and global mining expertise, MineLens enables clients to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
Your Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree or post-graduate degree (e.g., Masters) in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
- 3+ years of professional experience in the mining industry with expertise in mining operations (open-pit or underground) or mineral processing operations
- Significant understanding of mining industry dynamics
- Passion for analytics and interest in developing new approaches to mining data analysis and application to operational improvement
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with proficiency in tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, relevant mining software, and advanced analytics platforms
- Experience in applying Generative AI (GenAI) tools in current work to enhance analysis or decision-making is a plus
- Prior experience anchoring client engagements independently, with the ability to operate in senior client settings and present complex value propositions to executives
- Willingness to work in a demanding, results-driven team environment, with periodic travel to remote mining locations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; additional language proficiency is a plus
