Key Account Manager – Mining, Metals, Coal & Bulk Material Handling
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Key Account Manager to manage strategic customer relationships and drive business growth across the Coal, Mining, Metals, Crushing & Screening, Bulk Material Handling, metal recycling and Industrial Minerals sectors. The incumbent will be responsible for developing business opportunities, managing key customer accounts, coordinating project sales activities, handling techno-commercial discussions, and supporting costing and proposal development.
The role requires close interaction with leading industrial organizations such as Tata Steel, Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL), Jindal Stainless, NTPC, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), SAIL, Vedanta, Adani, NLC India, Coal India and its subsidiaries, Hindalco, JSW Steel, RINL, MECON, and other major mining, metals, power, and industrial mineral companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop relationships with strategic accounts in the mining, metals, power, and industrial sectors.
- Build strong relationships with key leaders, sales, project, procurement, maintenance, operations, engineering, and plant leadership teams.
- Identify and develop opportunities related to: coal, Bulk Material Handling, Mining equipment, plan expansion and modernization projects
- Generate inquiries, qualify opportunities, and convert prospects into orders.
- Prepare account growth strategies and achieve annual sales and order booking targets.
- Lead customer discussions from inquiry stage through project award.
- Coordinate with engineering, proposal, costing, procurement, and project execution teams for preparation of techno-commercial offers.
- Review project specifications, BOQs, technical requirements, and tender documents.
- Participate in technical clarifications, commercial negotiations, and contract finalization.
- Work closely with internal estimation and costing teams to develop competitive proposals.
- Ensure profitability through effective pricing and commercial evaluation.
- Support management in bid/no-bid decisions and project risk assessments.
- Track upcoming projects, CAPEX investments, plant expansions, and modernization opportunities across steel, mining, power, cement, and industrial mineral sectors.
- Monitor competitor activities, market trends, and customer requirements.
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or related discipline.
- MBA (Marketing/Business Management).
Experience
- 8–16+ years of experience in Key Account Management, Project Sales, Business Development, or Technical Sales within Crushing & Screening, Coal, Iron & Bulk material handling, steel, EPC/Turnkey industrial projects
Desired Skills
- Strong network within major industrial organizations such as Tata Steel, Jindal Group, NTPC, AM/NS India, SAIL, Vedanta, JSW, Hindalco, and Coal India.
- Experience handling large-value project sales and techno-commercial negotiations.
- Strong understanding of costing, tendering, estimation, and contract management.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage complex sales cycles.
