Job Purpose

The Assistant Manager – Payroll leads key workstreams within payroll transformation engagements, overseeing diagnostics, operating model design, process optimization, and implementation support. The role manages client interactions, drives solution design, and ensures high-quality delivery across payroll advisory initiatives. This position requires strong payroll domain expertise, leadership of teams, and the ability to translate business challenges into structured payroll solutions.

Roles & responsibilities

  • Lead payroll TOM and service delivery model design
  • Oversee process documentation quality across modules
  • Drive optimization through analytics
  • Lead benchmarking and analytics initiatives
  • Develop business cases and case for change
  • Translate insights into recommendations
  • Guide payroll/HRIS implementation and testing
  • Ensure alignment between system and process design
  • Leverage tools and accelerators
  • Lead workshops and stakeholder meetings
  • Manage communication across client and onshore teams
  • Support proposal development
  • Managing complex payroll environments
  • Leading multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Ensuring quality across deliverables

Work experience

  • 7+ years of experience working in the field of Payroll
  • End-to-end proposal development
  • Current state diagnostics and payroll benchmarking
  • Payroll target operating model and service delivery model design
  • Advanced payroll process design
  • Governance through SOPs, RACIs and desktop procedures
  • Strategic presentation development
  • Workshop leadership and senior stakeholder management
  • Global payroll exposure, tools and accelerators development
  • AI-led payroll transformation initiatives
  • Payroll system and HRIS implementation oversight
  • Payroll systems expertise;
  • Advanced process mapping, survey, dashboarding and collaboration tools
  • Advanced Microsoft Suite and ServiceNow for payroll

Educational and other information

Education: Any Graduate/ Post Graduate.
