Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Kafka Ecosystem Administration: Lead the administration, management, and operational support of Confluent Kafka environments, including both on-premise and Confluent Kafka Cloud.
  • Component Management: Manage and optimize core Kafka components and related Confluent platform features such as Control Center, Rest Proxy, HA Proxy, Confluent Kafka Connect, and Confluent Kafka Security features.
  • Database Integration: Work extensively with various databases including Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, Snowflake, and RDS databases, ensuring seamless integration with Kafka.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Management: Manage and operate Kafka deployments on cloud platforms, with a strong preference for AWS, demonstrating expertise in cloud solutions.
  • Large System Scaling: Apply proficiency in building and scaling large, end-to-end systems using high-performance languages like Java, Python, or GoLang.
  • DevOps & CI/CD Implementation: Implement and manage DevOps practices, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, utilizing tools such as GitHub, Terraform, and Ansible.
  • Monitoring & Alerting: Utilize monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk for comprehensive Kafka cluster health monitoring, alerting, and performance analysis.
  • Cloud Migration Engineering: Contribute to and lead engineering efforts for cloud migration solutions, specifically for data streaming architectures.
  • Linux Scripting & Networking: Leverage strong Linux Shell Scripting skills and a solid understanding of Networking concepts for system administration and troubleshooting.
  • Container Orchestration: Deploy and manage Kafka on container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes (K8), Amazon EKS, or GoCD.
  • Software Development Lifecycle: Possess experience across all facets of the software development life cycle, including analysis, design, development, data conversion, data security, system integration, and implementation.
  • Tools & IDEs: Work proficiently with modern Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) such as Visual Studio Code or IntelliJ.

Required Skills:

  • Strong and recent experience as a Kafka Admin, with a foundational understanding of Java.
  • Extensive experience (4+ years) on Confluent Kafka or (3+ years) on Confluent Kafka Cloud.
  • Proficiency with Kafka Control Center, Rest Proxy, HA Proxy, Confluent Kafka Connect, and Confluent Kafka Security features.
  • Working experience (3-5+ years) with different databases such as Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, Snowflake, or RDS databases.
  • Experience (3-5+ years) with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, with a preference for AWS.
  • Proficient in building/scaling large systems using Java/Python/GoLang or other high-performance languages, developer tools, CI/CD, DevOps, Github, Terraform, and Ansible.
  • Experience (2+ years) on Monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk, and engineering cloud migration solutions.
  • Strong experience (3-5+ years) with Linux Shell Scripting and a good understanding of Networking concepts.
  • Experience (2+ years) with K8 / EKS / GoCD deployments.
  • Experience in all facets of the software development life cycle.
  • Experience in working with modern IDEs (Visual Studio Code, IntelliJ).
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles including Terraform.

Good to Have:

  • AWS Solutions Architect certifications.
  • Experience with automated deployment tools beyond those listed.
