Key Responsibilities: Nursing Professional
This role encompasses leadership, patient care, and ward administration, focusing on delivering high-quality nursing services.
General Responsibilities
- Determine the goals, aims, objectives, and policies of Nursing Services.
- Recruit nurses and maintain discipline and rosters.
Patient Care
- Manage the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
- Perform data collection and assess vital signs.
- Conduct physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations.
- Provide continuous monitoring of patients.
- Follow physician rounds and carry out prescribed orders.
- Send samples for diagnostic evaluations as required.
- Coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Plan and implement patient care, including hygiene and nutrition.
- Administer medication and provide comfort measures.
- Manage patient elimination needs.
- Provide health education to patients.
- Maintain accurate records and reports.
- Attend in-service education programs.
Ward Administration
- Write nursing care plans for allocated patients.
- Perform nursing activities related to patient admission, discharge, and transfer.
- Keep patient belongings in safe custody in accordance with hospital policy.
- Assist the ward sister in indenting and checking drugs and supplies, and maintaining inventory.
- Maintain proper nursing procedures.
- Ensure sterilization of articles.
- Make rounds with doctors and senior nursing personnel.
- Keep all patient records up-to-date.
- Observe patient conditions and take prompt action.
- Record and report patient conditions as and when required.
- Provide direct supervision over patient care carried out by students in the ward.
- Participate in clinical teaching programs.
- Attend in-service classes regularly.
Candidate Requirements
- Communication Skills:
- Ability to comprehend verbal instructions given by supervisors or department heads.
- Capable of giving accurate and tactful explanations to patients.
- Problem-Solving/Decision-Making: Strong ability to solve problems and make decisions.
