Job Title: Senior Mainframe Developer

Experience: 7+ Years
Location: Remote - Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai (laptop collection)
Employment Type: Full-Time

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe Developer to design, develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise-level applications on IBM Mainframe systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2, along with a solid understanding of legacy system modernization, performance tuning, and production support.

Key ResponsibilitiesDevelopment & Maintenance

Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
Enhance and maintain existing mainframe applications with minimal supervision
Perform impact analysis and implement code changes for new enhancements

Database & Transaction Processing

Develop and optimize DB2 SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexes
Work with CICS transactions for high-performance online processing
Ensure data integrity, performance, and security standards are maintained

Batch Processing

Create and maintain JCL jobs for batch processing
Monitor and troubleshoot job failures and performance issues
Optimize batch cycle times and resource utilization

Production Support

Provide L2/L3 support for production issues and system outages
Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes
Support deployment activities and manage code migrations

System Integration & Testing

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, business analysts, and architects
Participate in integration and system testing
Ensure adherence to SDLC and coding standards

Required Skills & Qualifications

7+ years of hands-on experience in Mainframe technologies
Strong expertise in:COBOL (Batch & Online)
JCL (Job Control Language)
CICS (Customer Information Control System)
DB2 (SQL, performance tuning)
Good understanding of VSAM datasets, file handling
Experience with mainframe tools such as:IBM z/OS
TSO/ISPF
Endevor / Changeman / other version control tools
Knowledge of SDLC methodologies (Agile / Waterfall)
Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills
