About the Role

Our client is seeking a Junior Security Consultant with strong hands-on software development skills and practical exposure to cybersecurity.

The role focuses on implementing security solutions in AWS environments, developing security-focused code and automation scripts, supporting security assessments and contributing to technical security implementations.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced consultants on cloud security projects, security control deployment, testing and client security initiatives while developing technical consulting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Security Implementation

Implement security solutions and controls in AWS environments.
Configure AWS security settings, including IAM permissions, VPC security configurations and access controls.
Assist in deploying and configuring security tools such as WAF, IPS and SIEM.
Support security remediation and validation activities.
Contribute to the implementation of security architecture under the guidance of senior consultants.

2. Python Development & Security Automation

Develop, test and maintain security-focused Python scripts and applications.
Create automation tools for security configurations, testing and repetitive technical activities.
Write clean, secure, reusable and maintainable code.
Assist in developing and maintaining security automation solutions.
Use modern development tools, coding assistants and AI tools in development activities.

3. AWS & Infrastructure Management

Work with AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM and VPC.
Assist in configuring and securing cloud infrastructure.
Use Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
Support infrastructure provisioning, configuration and validation.

4. Security Assessment & Testing

Support security assessments and vulnerability identification.
Assist in basic threat modelling and security risk identification.
Perform security testing and validate implemented security controls.
Support remediation of identified security issues.
Prepare technical documentation covering assessment findings and implementation activities.

5. Technical Documentation & Client Collaboration

Prepare technical documentation for security implementations and configurations.
Assist in preparing security assessment reports.
Participate in client-facing technical discussions and project meetings.
Explain technical concepts and implementation activities clearly.
Prepare and deliver technical presentations to relevant stakeholders.
Collaborate with senior consultants and technical teams.

Required Qualifications & Experience

1. Professional Experience

2–3 years of hands-on software development experience.
1–2 years of professional security-focused technical experience.
Experience developing and maintaining software applications, scripts or automation solutions.
Practical experience implementing or supporting security controls.

2. Programming & Development Skills

Strong coding proficiency in Python (mandatory).
Working knowledge of TypeScript and/or JavaScript.
Experience using Git and version control systems.
Practical exposure to CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices.
Experience using coding assistants and AI tools for development tasks.

3. AWS & Cloud Security

Hands-on experience working with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM and VPC.
Understanding of cloud security principles and network security fundamentals.
Practical exposure to AWS security configurations and security control implementation.
Basic working knowledge of AWS CloudFormation.

4. Infrastructure as Code

Experience with Infrastructure as Code concepts.
Practical exposure to Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
Understanding of infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.

5. Security Technical Knowledge

Understanding of cloud security principles.
Knowledge of network security fundamentals.
Understanding of security controls and their implementation.
Basic knowledge of threat modelling.
Exposure to security testing, vulnerability assessment and remediation.
Experience working with or implementing security tools such as WAF, IPS and SIEM.

6. Communication & Collaboration

Native or business-level English proficiency.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
Experience preparing technical documentation.
Comfortable participating in client-facing discussions.
Ability to prepare and deliver presentations to technical audiences.
Strong team collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Spanish and/or French language proficiency.
AWS Associate-level certifications.
Experience with security automation and scripting.
Exposure to API security and container security.
Experience with cloud security tools.
Industry experience in financial services, healthcare, technology or manufacturing.
