Role Overview
We are seeking a Junior Robotics Software Engineer Path Planning & Manipulation to develop, scale, and productionize the motion planning stack for our collaborative palletizing solution, c
obotizur.
This role focuses on taking path planning algorithms from simulation to real-world deployment ensuring reliability, scalability, and ease of assembly. You will work closely with robotics hardware, production, and product teams to deliver a system that can be deployed consistently across customer environments.
The software developed in this role will form the foundation for future robotics products, offering strong long-term growth and ownership opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, improve, and scale path planning and motion planning algorithms for 6-axis robotic manipulators
- Implement motion planning using ROS2 and MoveIt (or similar) for robots such as Universal Robots and FANUC
- Validate planning performance in Gazebo simulations and on real robotic hardware
- Integrate path planning software into the Cobotizur production software stack
- Evaluate and recommend hardware components required for reliable deployment
- Package and deploy software in a production-ready environment (Docker preferred)
- Create clear SOPs and technical documentation to enable assembly and production teams to:
- Assemble systems correctly
- Deploy software reliably
- Perform basic troubleshooting
- Develop basic backend logic and a lightweight frontend interface to interact with the path planning system
Required Skills & Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechatronics, Robotics, CS, or EEE
- 1+ years of experience in controls/automation/robotics
- Strong proficiency in C++
- Hands-on experience with ROS2
- MoveIt or similar path planning software framework experience (mandatory)
- Solid understanding of:
- Inverse kinematics
- Path planning
- Robot manipulators
- Experience with Gazebo or similar simulation environments
Good to Have
- Docker for software packaging and deployment
- Python for backend logic, tooling, or scripting
- JavaScript / React for basic frontend development
- Experience working with industrial robots (UR, FANUC, ABB, KUKA, etc.)
