Junior Research & Collections Analyst - India

Job Description

Purpose

We are seeking a Junior Research & Collections Analyst in India to join our Research & Collections team.

This role is ideal for someone who is intellectually curious, self-driven, and eager to learn. You will help build and maintain the data and source foundations that underpin Seerist's analytical products, working with open-source information across political, security, and operational risk domains.

As a member of a globally distributed team, you will be trusted to work independently, manage your own time effectively, and exercise sound judgment while collaborating remotely with colleagues in other regions.

What You Will Do

  • Identify, access, and assess information from publicly available sources, including social media, news outlets, blogs, forums, and public records
  • Research, evaluate, and document sources for reliability, relevance, and utility
  • Design and maintain collection strategies that support both long-term product development and short-turn client requests
  • Tailor collection outputs to specific information requirements, particularly related to political, security, and operational risk
  • Build and maintain an understanding of how public discourse, media ecosystems, and social media usage vary across cultural, linguistic, and political contexts
  • Collaborate with analysts, developers, and data science colleagues to continuously improve Seerist's collection capabilities

What We Are Looking For

You might be a good fit if you demonstrate:

  • Strong curiosity about world events, information ecosystems, and how narratives form and spread
  • The ability to think critically about information quality, credibility, and bias
  • Motivation to learn independently and take ownership of tasks in a remote, fast-moving environment
  • Comfort working on unfamiliar topics and figuring things out as you go
  • Clear written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Formal experience is helpful but not required. Relevant experience could come from academic work, internships, journalism, research projects, OSINT hobby work, or other self-directed learning.

Language & Location Requirements

  • Fluency in English
  • Strong proficiency in at least one Indian or South Asian language.
  • Based in India, with the roleoperatingon a different time zone from much of the team
