Job Description

ABOUT KHAWK

Khawk, LLC is a New York-based systematic trading firm managing capital across equities, futures, and options on behalf of institutional allocators. We run a lean, technically driven operation built on proprietary infrastructure — from execution and market data to real-time P&L reporting. We are building out our technical team and looking for a motivated junior developer to grow with us.

THE ROLE

You will work directly with the founding team to develop, maintain, and improve the software systems that underpin Khawk's trading operations. This includes everything from market data pipelines and execution infrastructure to internal reporting tools and system monitoring. You will get real exposure to live trading systems from day one and have the opportunity to grow quickly in a small, high-performance environment.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

Market data infrastructure

Maintain and extend pipelines consuming real-time feeds from exchanges including CME, NYSE, and Nasdaq via the Options IT AtlasFeed API. Ensure data integrity, uptime, and alerting.

Execution and connectivity

Support FIX connectivity to broker-dealers, order routing logic, and trade reconciliation against clearing broker records on a daily basis.

P&L and reporting systems

Build and maintain internal reporting tools that track real-time P&L across equities, futures, and options positions. Contribute to the firm's proprietary budget and performance tracking application.

Infrastructure and automation

Manage and improve Linux-based server infrastructure on AWS EC2. Automate operational workflows including data sync, reconciliation, invoice processing, and system health monitoring.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 1–3 years Python development experience
  • Exposure to financial markets (equities, futures, or options)
  • Comfort with REST APIs and data pipelines
  • Linux / bash command line proficiency
  • SQL and relational database fundamentals
  • Strong grasp of data structures and algorithms
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with FIX protocol
  • Knowledge of CME, NYSE, or Nasdaq market structure
  • AWS / cloud infrastructure experience
  • Node.js or JavaScript backend experience
  • Familiarity with market data feeds (Level 1/2)
  • Prior experience at a trading firm, hedge fund, or fintech
  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks (LLMs, model integration, or data science pipelines)

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Direct exposure to live trading systems from day one in a real production environment
  • Small, senior team — your work matters and your contributions are visible
  • Fast career growth opportunity in a firm that is actively scaling
  • Competitive base salary plus performance-based compensation
  • New York-based with schedule flexibility
  • Opportunity to work across the full technical stack — market data, execution, infrastructure, and reporting

HOW TO APPLY

Send your resume and a brief note about your experience in financial markets to [Confidential Information]. We review every application and will respond within a few business days.
