ABOUT K-Hawk Capital: Khawk, LLC is a New York-based systematic trading firm managing capital across equities, futures, and options on behalf of institutional allocators. We run a lean, technically driven operation built entirely on proprietary infrastructure — from execution and market data to real-time P&L reporting. Every system here is production-critical and touches live capital, and we hire engineers who expect that standard.

THE ROLE: We are hiring a junior Python developer — a fresher or someone with up to two years of experience — to join our Chennai team and be trained hands-on by senior engineers on the systems that power Khawk's trading operations: market data pipelines, execution infrastructure, internal reporting, and system monitoring. It's a rare chance for an early-career engineer to work on live, mission-critical infrastructure from day one.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN AND CONTRIBUTE TO: Market data infrastructure — real-time feeds from exchanges including CME, NYSE, and Nasdaq via the Options IT AtlasFeed API. Execution and connectivity — FIX connectivity to broker-dealers, order routing, and trade reconciliation. P&L and reporting systems — internal tools tracking real-time P&L across equities, futures, and options, plus our proprietary budget and performance tracking application. Infrastructure and automation — our Linux-based AWS EC2 infrastructure, and automation of data sync, reconciliation, and system health monitoring.

REQUIREMENTS:

Required

• A Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field, from one of the following institutions or an equivalent top-tier, NIRF-ranked engineering institution:
• IIT Madras
• Anna University (including CEG, MIT, and ACT campuses)
• SRM Institute of Science and Technology
• VIT Chennai
• SSN College of Engineering
• PSG College of Technology
• 0–2 years of professional experience (freshers are very welcome to apply)
• Strong foundation in Python and core computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Basic comfort with Linux / the command line
• A strong, consistent academic record
• High attention to detail and a genuine eagerness to learn — you'll be working on systems where mistakes are expensive
• Based in or willing to relocate to Chennai; able to work from our office daily

Nice to Have

• Personal projects, GitHub contributions, or coursework involving REST APIs, data pipelines, or automation
• Basic exposure to AWS or cloud infrastructure
• Genuine interest in financial markets, trading, or fintech
• Exposure to Node.js or JavaScript
• Any exposure to AI/ML frameworks or data science tooling
