Role Description The Junior Engineer will support the technical operations of The Hindu's print and digital infrastructure in an on-site role based in Chennai. This is a full-time position focused on maintaining and monitoring systems, equipment, and tools that ensure smooth production workflows. Day-to-day responsibilities may include assisting in troubleshooting hardware and software issues, performing routine preventive maintenance, and supporting senior engineers in implementing upgrades and improvements. The role also involves documenting technical procedures, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and responding to operational incidents to minimize downtime. The Junior Engineer is expected to learn quickly, follow established standards, and contribute to continuous process and technology enhancements.
Qualifications

• Strong foundational knowledge in engineering or technology, with the ability to understand and work with production systems and technical workflows.
• Basic proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues, along with a willingness to learn new tools and platforms.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on maintaining quality and reliability in operations.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with engineering, editorial, and operations teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work on-site in Chennai on a full-time basis, with flexibility to support critical operations as needed.
• Familiarity with media, printing, or digital publishing environments is an advantage, as is prior internship or entry-level experience in technical roles.
