PRIME FUNCTION
To ensure product and process quality in line with automotive industry standards by implementing robust quality systems, driving continuous improvement, managing customer requirements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational quality benchmarks.
Job Description / Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) in line with IATF 16949 / ISO standards
- Lead quality planning activities including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and MSA
- Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications
- Handle customer complaints, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA)
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies
- Conduct internal audits, process audits, and supplier audits
- Ensure supplier quality through evaluation, development, and performance monitoring
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Design, Supply Chain) for quality improvements
- Maintain documentation and records related to quality processes and compliance
- Train and mentor junior engineers and shop-floor personnel on quality standards and practices
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and statutory requirements
AUTHORITY
- Authority to stop production in case of major quality deviations
- Approve/reject incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods based on quality standards
- Recommend process changes for quality improvement
- Initiate corrective and preventive actions across departments
- Interface with customers and suppliers on quality-related matters
JOB SPECIFICATION / COMPETENCY
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Automobile / Production Engineering
- Master's degree or certification in Quality Management is an added advantage
Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in quality roles within the automotive manufacturing industry
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001 standards
- Hands-on experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA
- Familiarity with core quality tools (8D, Fishbone, 5 Why, Pareto Analysis)
- Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawings
- Experience with quality inspection tools and measurement systems
