Job Summary
We are looking for a Junior Data Analytics Associate who is eager to build a career in data and retail analytics. In this role, you will support the analytics team in preparing reports, running data queries, and helping business stakeholders understand retail KPIs. You will work under the close guidance of experienced analysts and progressively take on more independent work as you grow. This is an excellent opportunity to develop foundational skills in retail data, KPI tracking, and analytical thinking within a fast-moving consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the team in preparing regular reports on retail KPIs — sales, category performance, basket size, and customer metrics.
- Run SQL queries to extract, validate, and organise data for reports and business analyses.
- Assist in building and updating dashboards and visualisations in Power BI or Excel.
- Help with cohort and customer segmentation reports to support campaign and retention planning.
- Assist in data quality checks and flag discrepancies in retail data sources.
- Support cross-functional teams with ad hoc data pulls and basic analytical requests.
- Learn retail analytics frameworks — promo analytics, pricing analysis, merchandising KPIs — under senior guidance.
- Contribute to insight decks and presentations for business stakeholders.
Knowledge (Technical/Functional)
- Basic understanding of retail or business concepts — sales metrics, pricing, customer retention, and product availability.
- Awareness of analytics tools: SQL, Excel, and at least one BI tool (Power BI or Tableau).
- Curiosity about customer behaviour, segmentation, and loyalty analytics.
- Interest in learning how retail data is structured (POS, CRM, eCommerce platforms).
Skills
- 6 months-3 years of experience in a data, analytics, or business analyst role (internship/fresher experience considered).
- Basic to intermediate SQL skills — able to write queries, use filters, and apply joins.
- Good Excel skills — comfortable with pivot tables, basic formulas, and data formatting.
- Some exposure to BI or reporting tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to data handling.
- Good written and verbal communication skills — able to present simple findings clearly.
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced analytics consulting environment.
Good To Have
- Any exposure to Python or PySpark for data manipulation is a bonus.
- Familiarity with retail, eCommerce, or FMCG domain concepts is helpful.
- Interest in promo analytics, merchandising, or pricing analysis.
- Basic awareness of Azure Databricks or cloud data platforms.
- Familiarity with Jira or any task management tool.
